Our Proposal
We are pleased to present this business proposal for the establishment of Wonder Medical World, a transformative, integrated medical city under the flagship of the Cosmopolitan Aid Foundation. This visionary project is designed to redefine healthcare delivery, medical education, research, and innovation in Ghana and across Africa.
Wonder Medical World will be developed within Airport City, Accra, one of the most strategic and accessible business hubs in West Africa. The project is conceived as a globally competitive, smart medical ecosystem, bringing together healthcare, education, research, technology, hospitality, and lifestyle infrastructure within a single, integrated environment.
The Need
Ghana continues to face a critical shortage of healthcare infrastructure and skilled personnel. With a population exceeding 35 million, the country has approximately 0.9 hospital beds per 1,000 people, far below the international benchmark of 3 beds per 1,000 people. This reflects a shortfall of over 70,000 hospital beds nationwide.
Additionally, with about 12,000 registered doctors, Ghana still falls significantly below the recommended ratio of 1 doctor per 1,000 people, highlighting the urgent need for expanded medical education and workforce development.
A Landmark Medical City Concept
At the heart of Wonder Medical World will be a Dubai-like central lake, serving as both a visual and functional anchor of the city. This will be complemented by a Times Square–inspired district, featuring giant LED billboards and immersive digital screens, creating a vibrant, modern environment that blends healthcare with innovation, commerce, and global visibility.
This unique design transforms the medical city into not only a centre for healing, but also a destination—an experience—where medicine, technology, and lifestyle converge.

Ghana is located in West Africa and shares borders with Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Togo. It occupies a total land area of 238,533 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 34.8 million people as of 2024.
The population of West Africa (ECOWAS region) is estimated at over 450 million people as of 2024.
Ghana, like many African countries, has a relatively low life expectancy of approximately 64 years (World Bank Data, 2024). The leading causes of death, as reported by the World Health Organization, are outlined below:

Figure 2 Leading Causes of Death- Ghana (Courtesy WHO Data)
Based on this data, it is therefore critical for the country and the wider region to invest in advanced medical diagnostic equipment and to attract highly skilled specialists to address these leading causes of mortality.
Ghana, like many countries within the ECOWAS region and Sub-Saharan Africa, continues to experience significant outbound medical travel, with patients seeking advanced medical interventions in other countries. Among the leading destinations for medical tourism are South Africa, India, and Turkey, driven by the following factors:
a) Affordability – Advanced medical services in destinations such as India are often more affordable compared to those in the United States and the United Kingdom.
b) Accessibility – Availability of advanced medical technologies such as CyberKnife robotic surgery and Tomotherapy.
c) Accreditation – The hospital will pursue international accreditation from recognised bodies such as the Joint Commission International (JCI), the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), and ISO.
d) Ease of Travel/Visa – As Ghana is part of the ECOWAS bloc, visa-free travel within the sub-region enhances accessibility for patients. In addition, the strategic location of the hospital within Airport City, Accra, close to the international airport, further improves ease of access for both regional and international patients.
e) Timely Medical Attention – With multiple healthcare services integrated under one system, care delivery will be streamlined to minimise waiting times and improve patient experience.
It is these key enablers that will form the foundation of operations at Wonder Medical World
Africa is the second-largest continent, covering approximately 30.37 million km² (11.7 million sq. mi), after Asia, in both size and population. The continent is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Suez Canal and the Red Sea along the Sinai Peninsula to the northeast, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. It lies south of Europe and includes Madagascar and various island archipelagos.
The population of Africa is estimated at approximately 1.48–1.50 billion people as of 2024, accounting for about 17–18% of the world’s population. Africa has the youngest population of any continent; approximately 50% of Africans are under the age of 19, with a median age of about 19.4 years. Approximately 43% of the population is urban, and this proportion is steadily increasing. Algeria is Africa’s largest country by land area, while Nigeria is the most populous.
Africa, particularly East and Central Africa, is widely accepted as the place of origin of humans and the Hominidae clade (great apes), as evidenced by the discovery of early hominids and their ancestors, some of which date back approximately 6–7 million years.
📜 History
At about 3300 BC, the historical record in Northern Africa begins with the rise of literacy in the Pharaonic civilization of Ancient Egypt. One of the world’s earliest and longest-lasting civilizations, Ancient Egypt continued—with varying degrees of influence—until around 332 BC, following conquest by Alexander the Great.
🌍 Climate
Africa straddles the equator and encompasses a wide range of climate zones; it is the only continent that stretches from the northern temperate zone to the southern temperate zone. The climate ranges from tropical to alpine conditions in highland regions.
Its northern region is predominantly desert or arid (notably the Sahara), while central and parts of western Africa are characterised by dense tropical rainforests. The eastern and southern regions are dominated by savanna grasslands. Transitional zones such as the Sahel and semi-arid steppe regions exist between these ecological areas. Africa is the hottest continent on Earth, and approximately 60% of its land surface consists of drylands and deserts.

Dr Emmanuel Yao Voado, MD – Founder & CEO, Wonder Medical City:
Dr Emmanuel Yao Voado, the founder and CEO of Wonder Medical World and Cosmopolitan Aid Foundation, boasts decades of cutting-edge experience in the medical field. Born in 1971 to a Christian family of scarce resources in Tefle, Volta Region, Ghana, he always dreamed of breaking the backbone of poverty through education. At the age of 12, he received a prophecy that he would be going abroad to further his education. In 1985, at age 14, the prophecy was fulfilled but not without difficulties. After taking the exams to send students to Cuba, he placed first in his municipality but was unlawfully replaced by the son of the most powerful politician there. A concerned citizen sent him to the office of the late President Jerry John Rawlings, where he was allowed to participate in the national test in which he placed first.
Dr Voado studied in Cuba for 17 years, right from Junior High School to becoming a medical doctor 27 years ago and a Neurosurgeon 23 years ago. During his years of education, he was always summa cum laude. He wrote a book on Organic Chemistry at the end of Senior High School in Cuba, where he topped all the Chemistry quizzes among 36 countries. At the end of his Neurosurgical Training in Cuba, he again wrote a book in the field of Spinal Surgery called Lumbar Discopathies.
Upon completion of the Neurosurgical course in 2001, Dr Voado was invited to work in Belize as the first-ever local Neurosurgeon of that country for a period of 5 years – during which there were no surgical mortality cases reported under his watch. Notable in his repertoire in Belize were spinal microscopic surgeries performed on the longest-serving Prime Minister of Belize and the daughter of the Father of the Nation of Belize.
His current endeavour is to make discoveries in the field of Neurosurgery that will change the prognosis of conditions such as spinal cord and brain injuries, brain tumours, and spinal degenerative disc diseases.
It is worth noting that Dr Voado, under the tutelage of Dr Robert Grossman (a renowned Neurosurgeon), served as a Clinical Research Specialist, writing several research papers that were presented at the international conferences of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons of America.
In Ghana, he co-led the team which separated the Bansah conjoined twins and is part of the team that executes many groundbreaking surgeries in West Africa, among them the most talked about awake brain surgeries.
He was deeply touched by the spirit of selflessness of the Cubans and Americans, and this shaped his worldview at a subconscious level until he came to the conscious realisation that a meaningful life is not about being rich, being popular, being highly educated, or being perfect... It is about being real, being humble, being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others. It is only then that we can have a full, happy, and contented life. He came home to give back to his people in the field of Neurological Surgery and philanthropic efforts to help alleviate the problems of the helpless, the destitute, the orphans and vulnerable children, the widows and their children, the elderly, the mentally disabled, the physically disabled including the deaf and the blind, students, patients, and the public at large through the Cosmopolitan Aid Foundation (a non-profit organisation).

The inspiration for this project arises from a growing reality across Ghana and much of Sub-Saharan Africa. For decades, citizens have sought a modern healthcare system where advanced diagnostics, specialised treatment, research, and medical education are integrated within one coordinated environment. Today, such comprehensive healthcare ecosystems remain limited in the region, despite the rapidly growing demand for quality medical services.
Across Sub-Saharan Africa, healthcare systems continue to face shortages of specialised facilities, modern equipment, and trained medical personnel. Ghana itself, with a population of more than 33 million people, currently has approximately 12,000 practicing doctors, and fewer than 10 percent of them are specialists. This shortage is further compounded by the uneven distribution of professionals, with a large proportion concentrated in a few major urban centres.
At the same time, Africa continues to lose billions of dollars each year to outbound medical tourism. Many patients travel to countries such as India, South Africa, Turkey, Europe, and the United States to access specialised care that is not readily available locally. Nigerian patients alone are estimated to spend over US$1 billion annually on treatment abroad, while many other patients from West African countries also travel outside the region for advanced procedures. This represents a significant outflow of financial resources that could otherwise be invested within the continent.
The concept of a Medical City addresses these challenges by bringing together advanced clinical care, education, research, and healthcare services within a single integrated environment. Such developments around the world have demonstrated the ability to transform healthcare systems while generating strong economic returns through medical tourism, specialised training, research partnerships, and healthcare innovation.
For Ghana and the West African sub-region, the establishment of a Medical City represents a strategic opportunity to elevate healthcare standards, improve access to specialised treatment, and position the country as a regional hub for advanced medical services.
Therefore, there is a need for a Medical City that will serve to:
- Establish world-class healthcare infrastructure that significantly improves the delivery of specialised healthcare services in Ghana and across the West African sub-region.
- Develop an integrated healthcare ecosystem where multiple medical specialties, diagnostics, pharmacies, rehabilitation services, and wellness facilities operate together under one roof through the concept of a modern medical mall.
- Reduce the growing outflow of patients seeking treatment abroad, thereby retaining healthcare expenditure within the region and strengthening Ghana’s position as a centre for medical excellence.
- Improve survival outcomes in critical medical emergencies by providing advanced treatment capabilities locally for conditions that currently require referral abroad, where delays in transfer can place patients’ lives at risk.
- Provide reliable, high-quality healthcare services for foreign residents, tourists, diplomatic missions, multinational corporations, and international organisations operating within Ghana and the wider West African region.
- Strengthen the training of medical and allied health professionals through modern education and research facilities, helping to close the significant human resource gap currently facing Ghana’s healthcare sector.
Through these objectives, the Medical City will not only transform healthcare delivery but will also contribute to national development by creating employment opportunities, stimulating research and innovation, and positioning Ghana as a leading destination for advanced medical services within Africa.
The development of Wonder Medical World represents far more than the construction of a healthcare facility. It is envisioned as a transformative infrastructure project that will strengthen healthcare delivery, stimulate economic growth, advance medical education, and position Ghana as a leading healthcare destination in West Africa.
Ghana’s population is now estimated at over 34 million people, while the broader West African sub-region exceeds 430 million people. Despite improvements in healthcare infrastructure over the past decades, the demand for specialised medical services continues to outpace available capacity across the region.
Many countries within West Africa still face significant gaps in specialised medical care, including advanced diagnostics, neurosurgery, oncology treatment, organ transplantation, precision imaging, and complex cardiovascular interventions. As a result, thousands of patients each year travel outside the region to seek treatment in countries such as India, South Africa, Europe, and the United States.
Wonder Medical World is designed to help bridge this gap by providing high-level quaternary healthcare services within the region, allowing patients to access world-class care closer to home. This will reduce the financial and emotional burden associated with medical travel while improving access to timely life-saving treatment.
Medical tourism has become a significant financial burden for many African countries. Billions of dollars leave the continent each year as patients travel abroad for treatment that is unavailable locally.
By establishing a highly specialised medical ecosystem that includes advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary treatment centres, research facilities, and training institutions, Wonder Medical World will help retain a significant portion of healthcare expenditure within Ghana and the region.
In addition to reducing outbound medical travel, the medical city is expected to attract inbound medical tourism, bringing patients from neighbouring countries who are seeking high-quality healthcare services within West Africa.
The development and operation of Wonder Medical World will generate significant employment opportunities across multiple sectors.
During the construction phase, the project will create thousands of jobs in engineering, architecture, construction, logistics, and project management. Once operational, the medical city will employ a wide range of professionals including:
- Medical specialists and physicians
- Nurses and allied health professionals
- Biomedical engineers and laboratory scientists
- Researchers and academic staff
- Health administrators and IT professionals
- Hospitality, retail, and facility management staff
In addition to direct employment, the medical city will stimulate indirect job creation through supply chains, pharmaceutical production, medical equipment servicing, hospitality services, transportation, and other supporting industries.
A cornerstone of Wonder Medical World is the integrated establishment of three transformative institutions:
- Cosmopolitan Medical School (CMS)
- Wonder Medical Research Centre (WMRC)
- Emmanuel Medical Technology Centre (EMTC)
Together, these institutions form a powerful triad of education, discovery, and innovation, designed to redefine healthcare delivery not only in Ghana, but across Africa.

By integrating healthcare delivery, education, research, and innovation within one coordinated ecosystem, Wonder Medical World will serve as a landmark investment in Ghana’s future and a catalyst for transforming healthcare across West Africa.
The development of Wonder Medical World presents a unique investment opportunity in one of the fastest-growing healthcare markets in Africa. As demand for advanced healthcare services continues to rise across West Africa, the establishment of a fully integrated medical city offers both strong social impact and sustainable long-term financial returns.
Healthcare is widely recognised as one of the most resilient sectors of the global economy. Regardless of economic cycles, the demand for quality healthcare services remains constant. As populations grow, urbanise, and age, the need for specialised medical services, diagnostics, pharmaceutical production, and healthcare education continues to increase.
Ghana, with a population exceeding 34 million people, sits at the centre of the West African sub-region, which has a combined population of more than 430 million people. Despite this large market, access to highly specialised healthcare facilities remains limited across much of the region. As a result, thousands of patients travel abroad each year in search of advanced medical treatment.
Wonder Medical World is designed to address this gap by creating a world-class healthcare ecosystem that combines clinical care, diagnostics, education, research, and pharmaceutical manufacturing within a single integrated medical city. This structure allows the project to generate revenue from multiple complementary sectors, including:
- Specialised hospital services
• Diagnostic and imaging services
• Outpatient and ambulatory care
• Medical education and training
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Medical research, innovation and clinical trials
• Hospitality and medical tourism
• Retail and commercial services within the medical mall
This diversified structure strengthens the long-term sustainability of the project while reducing dependence on a single revenue stream.
The scale and ambition of Wonder Medical World create opportunities for collaboration between private investors, development finance institutions, philanthropic foundations, healthcare operators, and government partners.
The project may be implemented through a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) framework, allowing investors to participate in various components of the medical city, including:
- Hospital development and operations
• Medical equipment investment and leasing
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Medical education and training facilities
• Research, biotechnology and innovation initiatives
• Hospitality and accommodation services
• Retail and commercial facilities within the medical mall
Such partnerships will enable the project to leverage international expertise, technology transfer, and global best practices in healthcare management and medical innovation.
The integrated nature of Wonder Medical World allows for strong long-term revenue potential. In addition to traditional healthcare services, the medical city will benefit from revenue streams generated through education, research partnerships, medical tourism, pharmaceutical production, and commercial facilities.
As the facility establishes its reputation for quality healthcare and clinical excellence, it is expected to attract patients not only from Ghana but also from neighbouring countries such as Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, and Nigeria, many of whom currently travel outside the region for specialised treatment.
The development of the medical city therefore represents both a high-impact social investment and a financially sustainable healthcare infrastructure project capable of generating long-term value for investors and partners.
Wonder Medical World is designed to become one of the most comprehensive healthcare developments in West Africa. By combining world-class medical services, advanced research facilities, healthcare education, and modern technology within a single coordinated ecosystem, the project will help transform healthcare delivery in Ghana and across the region.
For investors and partners seeking to participate in a project that delivers both economic value and measurable social impact, Wonder Medical World represents an opportunity to help shape the future of healthcare in Africa while contributing to the wellbeing of millions of people.
West Africa is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world, both in population and economic potential. The sub-region is home to more than 430 million people, and this number is projected to increase significantly over the coming decades as population growth continues across countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Mali.
Despite this rapid growth, healthcare infrastructure across much of the region has not expanded at the same pace as the population. Many countries continue to face shortages of specialised hospitals, advanced diagnostic equipment, trained healthcare professionals, and integrated medical systems capable of managing complex diseases.
As incomes gradually rise and awareness of healthcare quality improves, the demand for advanced medical services is increasing. Middle-income families, multinational companies operating in the region, diplomatic missions, international organisations, and expatriate communities all require access to high-quality healthcare facilities that meet international standards.
However, access to such facilities remains limited within the region. As a result, a significant number of patients travel abroad each year for treatment in countries such as India, South Africa, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Europe, and the United States. This trend has led to a substantial outflow of healthcare expenditure from African economies.
Healthcare analysts estimate that billions of dollars leave Africa annually in medical tourism spending, as patients seek specialised care that is unavailable locally. Establishing modern healthcare centres within Africa presents a major opportunity to retain this spending within the continent while improving access to life-saving treatment.
Ghana is particularly well positioned to take advantage of this opportunity. The country is widely recognised for its political stability, strong democratic institutions, and relatively well-developed infrastructure, making it an attractive destination for regional investment and international partnerships.
Accra International Airport already serves as a major aviation gateway for the region, connecting Ghana to key global destinations. The development of a world-class medical city within the Airport City district of Accra will place the facility within easy reach of international travellers, regional patients, and multinational corporations operating in West Africa.
In addition, Ghana’s reputation for hospitality, safety, and regulatory stability makes it an ideal location for the development of health tourism and international medical partnerships.
The healthcare sector itself is also expanding rapidly. Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) currently covers more than 20 million active members, while private health insurance programmes continue to grow among corporate employers and multinational organisations. This expansion of healthcare financing mechanisms creates a stronger foundation for sustainable healthcare service delivery.
At the same time, the burden of non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and neurological disorders continues to rise across Africa. These conditions often require advanced diagnostic tools, specialised treatment centres, and multidisciplinary medical expertise that are not widely available within the region.
Wonder Medical World is designed to respond directly to these emerging healthcare needs by establishing a fully integrated medical ecosystem that combines specialised clinical care, advanced diagnostics, medical education, pharmaceutical production, and research within a single coordinated environment.
By providing these services within Ghana, the project will help reduce the need for outbound medical travel while also attracting patients from across West Africa who are seeking high-quality medical care closer to home.
The opportunity therefore extends far beyond a single country. Wonder Medical World has the potential to serve a regional healthcare market of hundreds of millions of people, positioning Ghana as a leading centre for specialised medical care, research, and medical innovation within Africa.

A state-of-the-art healthcare complex must offer a full spectrum of facilities to meet patient needs within one coordinated environment. These facilities will include advanced diagnostic and pathology laboratories, imaging centres, surgical suites, intensive care units, emergency services, and smart hospital systems equipped with modern medical technologies.
Wonder Medical World is conceived as a large-scale private medical city with a humanitarian orientation, supported by strong corporate social responsibility. It is designed to improve the efficiency, quality, and reach of medical care in Ghana and the West African sub-region. Beyond reducing the financial burden of overseas referrals, it is intended to save lives by providing time-sensitive treatment locally for conditions that currently require travel outside Ghana.
Wonder Medical World is also envisioned as a health tourism destination and a flagship healthcare development for West Africa. It will serve patients from Ghana and the wider region, while also attracting expatriates, diplomatic missions, multinational companies, development partners, and international organisations that require dependable access to high-quality specialised healthcare in Ghana.
The vision of Wonder Medical World is to attract doctors and health professionals from diverse countries and backgrounds, with excellence, ethics, and outcomes as the defining standards. That diversity of expertise will help create the dynamism, innovation, and multidisciplinary teamwork required for a world-class medical institution.
Wonder Medical World will include a premier international hospital fully equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment technology. It will provide a broad range of specialties and subspecialties and will be staffed by highly skilled and experienced medical professionals.
Phase 1 of the proposed medical city will comprise a smart 500-bed quaternary international teaching hospital, supported by comprehensive diagnostic services, a fully stocked pharmacy, and an apart-hotel for patients, families, and visiting professionals. Subsequent and concurrent phases will add a multidisciplinary medical education facility, a world-class research centre, a modern pharmaceutical plant, a Medical Mall, a Neuroscience Centre of Excellence, and a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) school, together with retail and family-oriented commercial facilities.
The medical city will be located in Airport City, Accra, the capital of Ghana. This location offers strategic advantages in accessibility, proximity to Accra International Airport, and access to the country’s largest concentration of health services, tertiary institutions, business activity, and international mobility networks. Greater Accra had a population of 5.45 million in the 2021 Population and Housing Census, while Ghana’s total population was estimated at 35.1 million in 2025.
This proposal seeks to deliver extraordinary improvements in human health through a medical city whose first phase will consist of Wonder International Hospitals, a smart 500-bed quaternary international teaching hospital with a comprehensive range of specialties, advanced diagnostics, and a well-stocked pharmacy. It will be positioned to provide tertiary and quaternary care not only for Ghana but also for the surrounding region.
Our Apart-Hotel will combine the convenience of a furnished apartment with the services of a quality hotel. It will provide a home-like environment for patients and families requiring medium- to long-term stays close to treatment facilities. It will also accommodate researchers, conference participants, visiting faculty, and other guests associated with the medical city.
Medical Education Facilities (The Cosmopolitan Medical School): Medical education capacity remains insufficient across much of the sub-region, particularly in specialist and allied health training. To help build the next generation of health professionals, the project will establish a medical school comprising schools or programmes in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, dietetics, dentistry, laboratory sciences, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, biomedical engineering, anaesthesia, and related clinical sciences.
The school will deliver a modern, integrated curriculum designed to produce highly competent professionals for both Ghana and the wider region. It will also include student accommodation and structured pathways for clinical training within the medical city.
Scholarship support will be built into the model through partnerships with philanthropic and institutional funders, especially for high-performing students who commit to serving in underserved areas after graduation.
This investment is justified by the scale of Ghana’s workforce gap. According to the Ministry of Health’s 2025 mid-term review, Ghana had 10,968 doctors as of January 2023, only 9.39% of whom were specialists, and 87.80% of those specialists were concentrated in Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions. The same review cites the WHO’s indicative threshold of 4.45 doctors, nurses, and midwives per 1,000 population for universal health coverage, underscoring the continued need to expand both training and retention capacity.
A comprehensive Medical Research Centre (Wonder Medical Research Centre) is a truly comprehensive medical research ecosystem is still limited in much of West Africa. Wonder Medical World will therefore include a modern medical research centre focused on medical technologies, pharmaceutical development, translational medicine, clinical trials, and applied health innovation. The objective is to position the medical city not only as a treatment centre, but also as a generator of new knowledge, better protocols, and regionally relevant breakthroughs.
Wonder Pharmaceutical Plant Centre: Wonder Medical World will include a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply facility dedicated to the production of high-quality medicines, medical consumables, and selected surgical supplies. This will improve supply reliability, reduce dependence on imports in key categories, and strengthen the project’s long-term resilience and commercial value.
Voado Medical Mall will be a modern multi-specialty healthcare complex where a wide range of medical, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, and wellness services are delivered within a single integrated environment. Designed as a comprehensive healthcare destination, the Medical Mall will provide patients with convenient access to multiple healthcare services under one roof, significantly improving efficiency, coordination of care, and the overall patient experience.
The concept of a medical mall represents a progressive model of healthcare delivery that combines outpatient clinical services, advanced diagnostics, pharmacy services, rehabilitation, and preventive wellness facilities in one easily accessible location. Instead of patients navigating multiple facilities across a city to complete consultations, laboratory tests, imaging procedures, and follow-up treatments, Voado Medical Mall will allow patients to access these services seamlessly within one coordinated healthcare ecosystem.
The Medical Mall will host a wide network of healthcare providers including multi-specialty doctors’ offices, a state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging centre, and advanced pathology laboratory services capable of handling routine and specialised tests. It will also feature a Day Surgery Centre for minor and ambulatory surgical procedures, a comprehensive Cancer Treatment Centre, Dental Care facilities, and a Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre offering Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Reflexology, and other restorative health services.
In addition, the Medical Mall will include one of the best-stocked pharmacies in the West African sub-region, providing a full range of prescription medicines, medical and surgical supplies, and selected essential healthcare products. This will ensure that patients have immediate access to the medications and medical supplies prescribed during their consultations without the need to travel elsewhere.
The facility will also incorporate wellness centres, fitness facilities, and lifestyle health services that encourage preventive healthcare, chronic disease management, and long-term patient wellbeing. This preventive health component is increasingly recognised worldwide as a critical element in reducing the burden of disease and lowering healthcare costs.
Voado Medical Mall will not only improve convenience for patients but will also strengthen collaboration among healthcare professionals. By co-locating multiple services within one environment, the Medical Mall will promote faster referrals, multidisciplinary consultations, and coordinated treatment planning. This integrated model can significantly improve treatment outcomes while reducing delays in diagnosis and care delivery.
As part of the broader Wonder Medical World development, the Medical Mall will also serve as a key commercial and operational anchor within the medical city. It will support high outpatient volumes, facilitate continuous patient engagement, and create a dynamic healthcare ecosystem that attracts patients, healthcare providers, insurers, and investors.
Through its integrated structure and patient-centred design, Voado Medical Mall is expected to become one of the most comprehensive healthcare mall facilities in the West African sub-region. By eliminating the need for patients to move from one location to another for different healthcare services, it will redefine access to modern healthcare while contributing to improved efficiency, better patient outcomes, and long-term sustainability of the medical city.
The Cosmopolitan Vanguard Academy, a STEAM school, will be a state-of-the-art STEAM educational institution dedicated to the integrated teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Through this holistic educational approach, the Cosmopolitan Vanguard Academy will not only prepare students for academic success but also shape responsible global citizens who are committed to improving lives and advancing healthcare in Ghana, across Africa, and around the world.
Additionally, we will establish a state-of-the-art Neuroscience Centre of Excellence to address the growing demand for specialised neurological and neurosurgical services within Ghana and the wider West African sub-region. Neurological disorders such as stroke, brain tumours, spinal injuries, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases are increasing across the region, yet access to advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities remains limited. The centre will therefore provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients suffering from complex neurological conditions.
The Neuroscience Centre will integrate a wide range of specialised disciplines including Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurophysiology, Neuroradiology, Neuropsychology, Neuropathology, Neuro-Oncology, and a dedicated Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU). These services will work in close coordination to ensure accurate diagnosis, advanced treatment, and continuous monitoring of patients with neurological disorders.
The centre will be supported by advanced imaging technologies and diagnostic tools such as high-resolution MRI, CT scanning, neurophysiological monitoring systems, and specialised surgical theatres designed for complex brain and spinal procedures. This integrated approach will allow medical teams to provide timely and precise interventions, significantly improving patient outcomes.
Beyond acute and surgical care, the Neuroscience Centre will also provide comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery services through specialised units offering Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Reflexology. These services are essential for helping patients regain mobility, communication abilities, and independence following neurological injuries or surgical procedures.
The centre will also serve as an important hub for clinical research, specialist training, and knowledge exchange in the field of neuroscience. By collaborating with international medical institutions and research centres, the facility will contribute to advancing neurological care in Ghana while helping train the next generation of neurosurgeons, neurologists, and rehabilitation specialists.
Through this integrated and multidisciplinary approach, the Neuroscience Centre of Excellence will become one of the most advanced neurological care facilities in the West African sub-region, providing patients with access to specialised treatment that is often unavailable locally and reducing the need for costly medical travel abroad.
Retail, Commercial and Recreational Facilities: In addition to the core healthcare services, Wonder Medical World will incorporate a carefully planned retail, commercial, and recreational zone designed to enhance the overall experience of patients, visitors, medical professionals, and the surrounding community.
The development is envisioned as a city within a city, where healthcare, lifestyle, commerce, and leisure coexist in a vibrant and thoughtfully designed environment. Architecturally, the medical city will feature Dubai-inspired modern structures, complemented by landscaped boulevards, pedestrian-friendly plazas, and an artificial lake that creates a serene and visually striking environment for patients and visitors. The development will also include a Times Square–style central plaza, inspired by the energy of New York’s iconic district, serving as a lively gathering point with illuminated displays, retail outlets, cafés, and cultural spaces that bring life and vibrancy to the medical campus.
Within this integrated environment, the retail and commercial district will include a supermarket and mini-mall where visitors can conveniently shop for daily necessities, essential household items, health products, and personal care supplies. The retail spaces will also host pharmacies, medical supply outlets, convenience stores, banking services, and other complementary businesses that support the needs of patients and their families during hospital visits or extended stays.
As part of the broader medical mall ecosystem, these commercial facilities will help create a vibrant and self-sustaining environment within the medical city. By integrating healthcare services with retail and lifestyle amenities, the development will provide a comfortable and convenient setting where patients and visitors can access essential services without leaving the medical campus.
The medical city will also feature healthy eateries, cafés, and a Mediterranean restaurant, offering nutritious meal options designed to promote healthy living and support patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and visitors. Special attention will be given to dietary diversity and wellness-focused menus to align with the medical city’s broader commitment to preventive healthcare and wellbeing.
To further enhance the quality of life within the medical city, a family-friendly entertainment park and recreational spaces will also be developed. These areas will provide relaxation and leisure opportunities for patients in recovery, visiting families, and staff members. Landscaped gardens, walking paths, water features surrounding the artificial lake, and shaded outdoor seating areas will be incorporated throughout the campus to create a calming environment that promotes healing, mental wellbeing, and social interaction.
The integration of retail, commercial, and recreational amenities within the medical city will help create a holistic healthcare environment, transforming Wonder Medical World into far more than a hospital complex. Instead, it will function as a dynamic healthcare destination and lifestyle hub, where medical care, hospitality, commerce, and recreation coexist within a world-class architectural setting designed to inspire healing, comfort, and community.
Religious Complex: As part of its holistic approach to healing and human wellbeing, Wonder Medical World will include a religious and spiritual complex designed to support the spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs of patients, families, staff, and visitors. Recognising that healing often involves not only medical treatment but also spiritual strength and emotional support, this complex will provide a dedicated environment for prayer, reflection, and faith-based gatherings.
The complex will feature a 50,000-seat dome-shaped worship centre, designed to accommodate large gatherings, conferences, and international faith-based events. This iconic architectural structure will serve as a landmark within the medical city and will provide a space where people from different parts of the world can gather for prayer, worship, and spiritual encouragement.
In addition, the complex will include a prayer camp designed to host pilgrims and visitors seeking spiritual retreat, counselling, and moments of reflection. The prayer camp will provide quiet environments where individuals and groups can spend time in prayer, meditation, and spiritual renewal during periods of illness, recovery, or personal need.
To support visitors who travel from different parts of the world, the religious complex will also include hotel facilities for Christian pilgrims and faith visitors. These accommodations will provide comfortable lodging for individuals, families, and organised groups who travel to the medical city for spiritual gatherings, conferences, healing services, or religious retreats.
A key feature of the religious complex will be the Jesus Tower, a symbolic structure designed as a dedicated place of prayer and spiritual encounter. The tower will provide a quiet and reverent environment where pilgrims can enter for personal prayer and reflection, believing that in moments of sincere prayer and faith, individuals can encounter divine comfort and receive spiritual strength at the point of their needs.
The integration of this religious complex within the broader Wonder Medical World development reflects the project’s vision of creating a comprehensive environment that cares for the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. By combining advanced medical care with spaces for spiritual support and reflection, the medical city seeks to offer a unique model of compassionate and holistic healing that serves people from Ghana, across Africa, and around the world.

The success story of a colossal healthcare complex like the one we aspire to build depends on the quality of its staff. We shall hire and train highly experienced doctors, nurses, and support staff who share our vision and values.
There are some specialties which we lack in Ghana or have very few specialists representing them. The Medical City will solve these deficiencies through foreign doctors who will fill the initial vacant slots. The hospital will also attract Cuban health workers who can now travel freely outside Cuba. The hospital will also be reinforced by American doctors who will come to Ghana to treat patients and share their experience with their colleagues in Ghana. We have retiring and retired doctors of African descent who are willing to give back to Africa by coming back on a regular basis or relocating to Africa to spend the latter part of their days in mother Africa. This project is fashioned to attract them. Some doctors are coming from India, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe.
This facility, one of its kind in Ghana, will be the bridge between the inadequacies of the government and private facilities. The Wonder Medical World will be a Quaternary Teaching Healthcare Facility with first-class capacity to cater for all the healthcare needs of the people.
The role of advanced technology and artificial intelligence in our medical city to provide the highest level of healthcare services.
To provide the highest level of healthcare services, advanced technology and artificial intelligence will be integrated into the hospital's design. It would have a comprehensive IT (Information Technology) infrastructure that supports seamless communication and data sharing between different departments and healthcare professionals and sharing of information with other facilities within and outside the hospital system.
In an ultimate smartest cutting-edge quaternary hospital, the IT and AI (Artificial Intelligence) components would be designed to enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and enable advanced medical research. Some specific software components would include electronic health record (EHR) systems, clinical decision support systems, telemedicine platforms, and data analytics tools.
The hospital would be equipped with cutting-edge medical devices and equipment, such as robotic surgical systems, advanced imaging technologies, and smart monitoring devices. These technologies would enable precise and efficient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients.
There will be an electronic health records (EHR) system, which will streamline patient data management and improve overall efficiency. This electronic health record (EHR) system will securely store and manage patient information. It will also allow healthcare professionals to access patient data in real-time, facilitating accurate and timely decision-making.
Additionally, the hospital would have a smart patient management system that utilises AI algorithms to optimise patient flow and resource allocation. This system would help reduce waiting times, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall patient experience. We shall emphasise the implementation of smart devices and Internet of Things (IoT) technology throughout the hospital. For example, smart beds can monitor patients' vital signs and adjust accordingly, while IoT-enabled medical equipment can automatically transmit data to healthcare providers for real-time monitoring and analysis.
In terms of hardware, our ultimate smartest quaternary hospital would have a robust and secure IT infrastructure. This would include high-speed internet connectivity, advanced servers, and storage systems to handle the large amount of data generated in a hospital setting. It would also have a network of interconnected devices and sensors, such as smart beds, wearable devices, and monitoring equipment, to collect real-time patient data.
Additionally, the hospital would have advanced imaging and diagnostic equipment, such as MRI machines, CT scanners, and robotic surgical systems, which would be integrated with the IT and AI systems to enable seamless data sharing and analysis.
We shall implement the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms into the hospital's operations. AI can assist in diagnosing diseases, predicting patient outcomes, and optimising treatment plans. This will not only improve patient care but also enhance the hospital's overall efficiency and effectiveness.
In an ultimate smartest cutting-edge quaternary hospital, the IT and AI components would be designed to enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and enable advanced medical research. Some specific software components would include electronic health record (EHR) systems, clinical decision support systems, telemedicine platforms, and data analytics tools.
The EHR system would allow for seamless and secure access to patient information, enabling healthcare providers to make informed decisions and provide personalised care. It would also facilitate communication and collaboration among different departments and healthcare professionals. It will be integrated by an additional wide range of functional units, including but not limited to:
- A scheduling system to manage appointments and procedures
- A billing system to track patient charges and payments
- A laboratory system to process tests and results
- A pharmacy system to manage medications and supplies

Physical documents will be scanned to be incorporated into EHR so that patient information and other matters which pertain to the administration of the hospital will be well kept for future references.
The clinical decision support system would use AI algorithms to analyse patient data and provide real-time recommendations for diagnosis and treatment. It would help healthcare providers make accurate and evidence-based decisions, reducing errors and improving patient outcomes.
Additionally, we shall use telemedicine (“healing at a distance”) and remote monitoring systems, which will allow patients to receive care from the comfort of their homes, reducing the need for hospital visits. Telemedicine platforms would enable remote consultations and virtual care, allowing patients to receive medical advice and treatment from the comfort of their homes. This would not only improve access to healthcare but also reduce the burden on hospital resources. We shall also introduce the practice of telemedicine linking our centres with each other and our headquarters with sister mega hospitals in the developed world and at the same time with underdeveloped medical facilities in Ghana which will refer patients to our facility in order to improve our healthcare delivery. We will use technology to televise/videotape surgeries in real-time which are done in Ghana to the United States of America and other nations by networking both hospitals so that colleagues with similar and or higher expertise in those countries can give us valuable opinions on difficult cases. Other methods of information and communications technology (ICT) will be applied in both surgical and non-surgical specialties. We shall use ICT to make our distant services available to referring medical facilities in Ghana so that before patients with head injury, spinal cord injury, heart attack and stroke come to our medical city, they would coordinate with us and know the appropriate course of action they would need to execute initially before referring the patients.
Data analytics tools would be used to analyse large volumes of patient data and identify patterns and trends. This would help in early detection of diseases, prediction of outcomes, and development of personalised treatment plans. It would also support medical research by providing valuable insights and facilitating collaboration among researchers.
The hospital's commitment to data security and privacy is very important. Robust cybersecurity measures will be implemented to protect patient information (data) and ensure the integrity of its IT infrastructure, enhancing compliance with regulations. It would have robust security measures in place, including encryption, firewalls, and regular vulnerability assessments.
The human resource positions that will be critical to running the IT infrastructure include:
- IT Director: This role is responsible for overseeing the entire IT department and ensuring that the IT infrastructure aligns with the hospital's goals and objectives. They are also responsible for managing the IT budget and making strategic decisions regarding technology implementation.
- Network Administrator: This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the hospital's network infrastructure. They ensure that the network is secure, reliable, and efficient. They also troubleshoot network issues and implement network upgrades as needed.
- Systems Administrator: The systems administrator is responsible for managing the hospital's server infrastructure. They ensure that servers are properly configured, maintained, and updated. They also monitor server performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

- IT Support Specialist: This position provides technical support to hospital staff and resolves any IT-related issues they may encounter. They assist with software and hardware installations, troubleshoot computer problems, and provide training to staff on IT systems and applications.
Lastly, we would like to emphasise the potential for cost savings and improved patient outcomes that come with a quaternary smart hospital. By leveraging advanced technology and AI, the hospital can reduce medical errors, optimise resource allocation, and provide personalised care tailored to each patient's needs.
Our strategy is to ensure continuous innovation, direct technology transfer and incubation of research ideas.
This clear and compelling vision of integrating IT and AI into our ultimate quaternary smart international hospital will revolutionise healthcare delivery, optimise patient care, improve patient outcomes, improve operational efficiency, and drive medical innovation and provide a solid return on investment for potential investors
Focus on providing exceptional service and personalised care for patients throughout every stage of treatment.
Collaborate with other providers and insurance providers to enhance the quality of patient care and streamline payment processes. Private Health Insurance Schemes have emerged and have come to stay as the current global economic system has increased their demand. The hospital will be a provider for these private health insurances. The rest of the patients will pay out of pocket fully or on payment plans.
We target all patients, independent of their origin, religion, culture, race, ethnicity, and political affiliation, who are seeking solutions to health issues.
Finding the right location is critical to the success of any health venture. We have closely studied areas with a high demand for healthcare services, convenient access, and sufficient space for the facility.
We will build the first facility at the Airport City in Accra, the capital of Ghana. This is where much of the population of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area lives and where 55% of the doctors, nurses, and other allied health personnel of Ghana are concentrated, in order to get easier access to human resources.
We will also extend a smaller branch to Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana, a city in the vicinity where the petroleum and mining industries are booming. The petroleum industry will receive this with great pleasure because their workers, many of whom are foreigners, have private health insurance and there is no first-quality hospital that they can attend for their health needs.
Kumasi, being the second largest city in Ghana with abundant economic activity, is another city our branches will go to. To impact the northern half of Ghana, we shall also extend to Tamale, its capital city, to share our healthcare revolution with them.
In the future, a branch of the Wonder Medical World will be opened as a health tourism facility for our international patients at the bank of the beautiful Volta River near Bunase in the Greater Accra Region, which is only an hour's drive from the capital city, Accra. Bunase is going to be the site for the future international airport which will become the centre of West Africa to the world in the travel and pleasure industry. Apart from this huge international airport, there will be an Airport City with skyscrapers of the Dubai style, the seat of the government and all the ministries, an Olympic Stadium among other infrastructures.
This health tourism facility at the bank of the Volta River will be located on the grounds of The Kingdom City, which will be funded under the Cosmopolitan Aid Foundation, a non-profit organisation, our philanthropic arm. The Kingdom City is a complex of massive projects through local and outreach programmes, that will help alleviate the problems of the helpless, the destitute, the orphans and vulnerable children, the widows and their children, the elderly, the mentally disabled, the physically disabled including the deaf and the blind, students, patients and the public at large. We are acquiring 25,000 acres of land extending from the Volta River to an area behind the future International Airport in Bunase, to build The Kingdom City. As coalition builders, in the effort of making our NGO projects become auto-sustainable in the future, we will work co-operatively with all individuals and groups, for-profit and not-for-profit corporations and organisations, with government agencies and international bodies committed to the fight to extend help to the needy. We are presently calling on the aforementioned entities and groups to partner with us to make this dream, which is achievable, come to fruition. During this partnership, the profit of the joint venture will be shared between our foundation and our partners so that we can accomplish our mission of helping thousands of vulnerable people to make it to stardom.
The Kingdom City will be comprised of:
- Home and school for orphans and vulnerable children
- Center for the empowerment of widows
- School and center for the empowerment of the physically disabled
- Mental Health Center
- Nursing for the elderly
- University
- Hospital
- Shopping Mall
- Chain of Hotels at the river bank and inland
- Museums
- Recreational Centers
- Aquarium
- Zoo
- Amusement parks
- Sports Complex
- Apartments and Hostels for our workers and volunteers
- Chain of offices for commercial use
- Residential Area.
In the future, all the branches will serve as referral sources for the headquarters in cases where patients need more sophisticated investigations or more specialised care, as is the case with some complex cardiothoracic and brain and spinal surgeries.
The project will engage highly experienced design, engineering, and construction partners with proven capacity in advanced healthcare infrastructure. The goal is to build to international hospital standards in safety, resilience, digital readiness, sustainability, and patient-centred design.
The first project to be built will be the Airport City, Accra facility. It will be situated within Ghana’s leading urban and commercial hub, serving a large and growing catchment population while also benefiting from international connectivity.
We are currently pursuing the acquisition of at least 200 acres in Airport City for the development of the first phase of Wonder Medical World.
Securing adequate and sustainable funding will be critical to the successful development and long-term operation of a world-class health complex of this scale.
To achieve this, we are pursuing a multi-pronged financing strategy, including:
- Private equity and institutional investment
- Public–private partnerships (PPP) with government agencies
- Multilateral and bilateral development financing (e.g., World Bank, AfDB)
- International grants and philanthropic contributions
This diversified funding approach ensures financial resilience, risk distribution, and long-term sustainability
The total projected capital investment for the development of the Wonder Medical World is estimated at USD 2.5 billion.
However, the project will be executed through a phased development model, allowing for:
- Progressive capital deployment
- Early operational revenue generation
- Continuous scaling aligned with demand and investor participation
This phased strategy ensures that the vision is achievable, bankable, and adaptable, enabling steady growth while maintaining financial discipline
If you are not investing in healthcare, you are missing out on the best returns in the private equity business.
The median IRR for healthcare deals done from 2011-2021 is 27.3% according to a report from DealEdge, a private equity benchmarking service from Bain & Company and Cepres.
The study by Bain & Company reveals that healthcare was the best-performing asset class in private equity between 2015-2021 in terms of internal rate of return (IRR).
In 2022, private healthcare equity remained strong despite geopolitical tensions, inflation, slumping stock markets, and spiking interest rates.
Healthcare private equity returns have outpaced other industries. After healthcare, the next IRR was technology (24.3%), followed by media and telecom.
- Revenue Generation: The hospital will generate revenue through its services. This includes patient care, diagnostic services, pharmacy services, and other medical services. The revenue generated will be reinvested into the project to ensure its sustainability.
- Partnerships: The hospital will form partnerships with other healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, and medical technology firms. These partnerships will provide additional funding and resources.
- Government Support: The hospital will seek support from the government in the form of subsidies, tax breaks, or direct funding. This will help to offset some of the costs of running the hospital.
- Donations and Fundraising: The hospital will also engage in fundraising activities or seek donations from individuals or organizations. This will be particularly effective because the hospital will emerge as a leader in the healthcare industry in the West Africa sub-region in the area of medicine or research.
- Cost Management: The hospital will implement cost management strategies to reduce its operating costs. This will include energy and water-saving measures. As a matter of fact, we are embarking on building a green, environmentally sustainable hospital. We shall insist on the efficient use of resources made available to us by reducing waste.
- Research and Development: The hospital will engage in research and development activities. The findings will surely be commercialised to generate additional revenue.
- Training Programmes: The hospital, being a teaching hospital, will offer training programmes to medical students and professionals. The fees from these programmes will surely contribute to the project's sustainability.
- Endowments: The hospital will establish an endowment fund to ensure ongoing financial support for the hospital's operations and maintenance. The interest generated from the fund will be used to support the project, utilising it for specific needs or to cover the costs of operations, which can help sustain our smart international quaternary teaching hospital. Our endowment fund will make consistent withdrawals from invested capital.
Endowment funds are typically funded by donations, which are tax-deductible for the donors. These donations are invested, and the returns will be used for the benefit of our hospital. The principal amount is usually kept intact, and only the income from the investment, or a part of it, is spent. This allows the fund to last indefinitely, providing a long-term source of income for the hospital.
The success of our endowment fund will consist of designing it to maximise returns while minimising risk. We will have a capable management team overseeing the fund. This will require a considerable amount of time and effort to manage it effectively.

Wonder Medical World is not competing with hospitals, universities, or tech companies.
It is creating a new global model—
a Healthcare-Powered Innovation City,
where science, technology, education, economy, and spirituality converge to transform lives.
Our organisation is grounded on the values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence (I CARE) principle.
We believe that the future of medicine depends upon bringing together organisations and healthcare partners in mutually beneficial joint ventures that help them connect, integrate and collaborate.
- With your collaboration, we seek to provide quality healthcare that will make a difference by improving the health of the people of Ghana and Africa at large.
- This collaboration will facilitate access to an affordable and trusted medical alternative for patients, organisations and consumers in the African market.
- With your collaboration, we will offer world-leading, affordable, timely, high-quality and all-inclusive surgical and non-surgical specialties, diagnostic and therapeutic tools for Ghana and Africa at large, to access best-in-class healthcare facilities.
- This collaboration will continue to create opportunities in Africa, thereby increasing market share while improving patient care.
- Increasing the revenue and profitability base of the company for future developments and sustainability.
- Impact investing, as it is a socially conscious form of investing that seeks to generate both a social benefit and a meaningful financial return. It is an investment that intentionally generates sound financial return as well as measurable social and environmental impact, and this would help grow the global impact economy, especially that of Ghana, significantly.
- It will help train doctors, nurses and allied health personnel who will reduce our chronic deficit of medical personnel.
- It will not only create jobs for thousands who will be directly and indirectly involved here at home but also in your nation and all other countries where our contractors, construction materials and medical and non-medical equipment are coming from.
- We would have all the tests done locally in Ghana, which has a population of 32.83 million, and have an influential impact on 419 million people who will come from other West African countries as they usually do.
- Patients, both foreigners and nationals, will be tremendously helped by avoiding their flock to South Africa, India, Cuba and the first world countries.
- Your organisation will leave an indelible mark of goodwill, whose name will ever be remembered in the annals of history for the good they have done to elevate the quality of healthcare in Ghana, extending to Africa as a whole.
CONCLUSION:
Overall, creating a state-of-the-art health complex of the magnitude of the Wonder Medical World will require significant planning, investment, and ongoing management. However, the rewards of providing top-level healthcare services to patients are unparalleled and substantial.
